Radio Free Python is a monthly podcast focused on the Python programming language and its community.
The show was created by—and is hosted by—noted futurist Larry Hastings.
Each episode will start with the news. However, since there isn't
that much breaking news from month to month, this will often
veer into a sort of magazine-format news, introducing a specific
topic and going over its history as well as current events.
After the news, each episode will feature an interview with some
notable Python luminary.
Following the interview will be either
a Link or Project Highlight,
an Editorial,
or both, depending on time and inspiration.
Radio Free Python:
is emphatically pro-Python, and has no strong opinions on anything else.
(In particular, Radio Free Python takes no political positions.)
maintains a positive and upbeat feel, a sort of "It's all good" vibe.
Apart from possibly the editorials, Radio Free Python is definitely not
confrontational,
controversial,
contentious, or
dramatic.
strives for superior listenability. Though we strive for
high audio fidelity, we don't stop there. Radio Free Python
will also edit the audio stream to remove
breath sounds,
"ums" and "errs",
pauses,
and the discussion itself to enhance its content and clarity.
There's only one hard and fast rule: everyone involved has to be happy with the final result.
uses Monty Python-related memes... enough with the snake imagery.
The song used on Radio Free Python is "No Worries" by "Jive Ass Sleepers", off the album "Scratch", available from
Magnatune.
The Radio Free Python web site is rendered using Jinja2 and a custom static website rendering engine.
The Radio Free Python headline font is a combination of Futura from Microsoft and Futuri from SWFTE Typecase.
